Voxie Tactics Dev Diary: March 11 2024 - Insights on Game Enhancements, Marketing Outreach, and Web Development

Hello there fellow Voxies!

📣Before we delve into the latest and greatest developments from the Voxiverse, we have some important updates we’d like to share.

Unity Update

As discussed earlier this week on our Discord channels, we remain on track for our launch on the Unity Engine.

In fact, we have exciting updates around new visuals on our website and a new Voxie Tactics Trailer with fresh Unity game footage coming down the pipeline! 👀 The team is hard at work pulling this all together and we can't wait to share!

And to give you all a little bit more info on what’s to come, we’re excited to say that as soon as the Unity version is ready to go we’re going to launch it as an Open Beta! This will give everyone the opportunity to join in, play, have some fun and help with the games overall refinements.

That’s right! At launch, instead of selecting just a handful of players to test, we’re giving the entire Voxie community access right from the get-go! Your participation is invaluable. 💪

So with that, let’s get started!

Game Development

The GameDev team has been working around the clock to make sure every element of our game is ready for the Unity launch this quarter.

Beyond various bug-fixes, here are some exciting in-game implementations being finalized:

KO + Death Flow Mechanics:

  • KOed characters can be revived within a set number of ticks
  • Failure to revive results in character death, removal from the Battle Queue, and replacement by a tombstone on the map

Character Placement Flow:

  • Manual placement of characters on specific map tiles within 40 seconds/Automatic selection if time limit is exceeded
  • Undo functionality for character placement
  • Character spawning with proper orientation and equipment
  • Introduction of Dummy Targets in opponent's view to avoid revealing which characters are selected for more tactical gameplay

Defend Action:

  • Introduction of a strategic "Defend" option for players during their turn
  • Camera Controls: Enabling different camera angles of the Voxie battlefield
  • Status Effects: Ongoing development and enhancements for visual appeal
  • Ranking Views Update: Data structure updates for Draft and Extreme Arenas

Game Design

The game design team is resuming work on the following:

  • Completion of Resistance Data and Equipment Review
  • VFX and Documentation Improvements
  • Narrative tutorial design and Unity features review
  • Status effect design enhancements

Game Economy

On the game economy side, the team is getting ready to roll out big changes to the reward system! Here's what they're currently focused on:

  • Finalization and balancing of new reward model for Unity
  • Documentation and communication design for the Unity Reward model
  • NFT Revamp Design which includes new NFT rewards and new distribution and forge logic

Web Development

The WebDev team continues to hold the fort and make sure the back-end is running smoothly. They are continuing work on:

  • Library Improvements
  • Marketplace Front-End Optimization
  • Database Upgrade
  • Bug Fixes

Marketing Highlights

The marketing team is working on multiple fronts to deliver an exciting launch campaign for Unity! Here's what you can expect:

Unity Launch:

  • Creation of a new trailer and stunning Game Screen illustrative visuals
  • Press release, articles, and social media comms
  • Twitch & Discord stream events

Website Revamp:

  • New homepage and game download page designs
  • Brand Assets Revamp
  • Update of Voxie Tactics and Voxies logo
  • Refresh of color palettes and typography
